TOY STORY 5 RULES THE WORLD — MINIONS STUMBLES AT HOME
Pixar's beloved cowpokes saddle up to $764M globally, while Illumination's yellow guys face their toughest opening ever stateside.

Woody and Buzz are on top of the world! According to Deadline, "Toy Story 5" has galloped past $764 million worldwide, keeping its iron grip on the global box office. The sequel's reigning strong even as fresh competition rolls in — and South Korea is no exception. Per Variety, the film held the number one spot at the Korean box office over the July 3–5 weekend, pulling in $2.8 million from over 429,000 admissions with a commanding 38.6% of the weekend's ticket sales.
Meanwhile, things are a whole lot rougher for the Minions crew. "Minions & Monsters" scored a $146.4 million global weekend across 72 territories and has hit nearly $160 million worldwide — but here's the sting: stateside, the flick posted the lowest opening in franchise history with just a $61.4 million five-day bow, according to Deadline. International markets saved the day with an $85 million haul, but audiences at home seem to be feeling serious Minion fatigue after years of yellow-guy saturation.
So while Pixar's rootin'-tootin' toys continue their victory lap, Illumination's mischievous munchkins are learning that even worldwide reach can't always conquer homegrown franchise fatigue. It's a tale of two animated empires at the multiplexes!
